YUKON, Okla. – (February 5, 2026) – Bluepeak, a leading provider of high-speed fiber internet, servicing in six states – Oklahoma, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Texas, and Wyoming –supported the Auction of Junior Livestock Champions during the National Western Stock Show in Denver on January 23, 2026, by purchasing a hog raised by Sutton Straka, a young exhibitor from Yukon, Okla. Bluepeak purchased the prize hog for $9,000.
“This investment highlights Bluepeak's commitment to supporting local youth in agriculture while fostering community growth in Yukon and in many of our other communities across our footprint,” said Bluepeak’s Chief Business Development Officer, Mike Harry. “Our purchase not only recognizes Sutton’s dedication and hard work but also contributes to educational opportunities for students across the region.”
As part of the auction, 10 percent of each bid price is donated to the National Western Scholarship Trust, helping fund scholarships for aspiring leaders in agriculture-related fields – including students at many colleges located in communities Bluepeak serves.
The National Western Scholarship Trust, established in 1983 as a 501(c)(3) organization, provides financial support to students pursuing degrees in agriculture, rural medicine, and veterinary science. Each year, the Trust awards more than $550,000 to over 120 students, empowering the next generation of agricultural innovators and promoting sustainable practices in farming and ranching. Through these scholarships, recipients gain access to higher education, preparing them to contribute to vital industries that sustain rural communities and food systems nationwide.
The National Western Stock Show's Auction of Junior Livestock Champions is a time-honored, beloved event where ribbon-winning animals raised by 4-H and FFA (Future Farmers of America) youth are sold to supportive buyers. This year, the auction set new records, with the top eight champion animals collectively fetching $822,500, highlighting growing support for youth agriculture programs.
