Title VI Facilitator - Offices at Yukon High School
Halito! I graduated from Yukon High School in 1981. From there I attended the University of Central Oklahoma where I played volleyball for the school and also graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. I was a stay- at -home mom for about 12 years before joining the Yukon Indian Education Program in 1990 as the Coordinator. I love working with Native families in both the areas of their culture and education. I'm learning something new all the time and I hope I am helping parents and students get a better connection with their tribe. I also hope that I'm helping our high school kids get a better understanding of what they will want to do after high school. I never thought I would end up in education, but I guess you could say that education found me.
I am married and have 3 kids. Football is my favorite sport and OU is my favorite team! I also love to read, go to garage sales, work in the yard, watch movies and be with family and friends! I am a tribal member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. We have attended their Labor Day Festival for many years which is so much fun and also attended many Veteran's Day Ceremonies with my dad. Both are held on the Capitol grounds in Tuskahoma. If you ever get a chance to visit Tuskahoma, visit the capital and the grounds surrounding it. It really is so pretty and has so much history to learn about concerning the Choctaw Nation.
