The Title VI program/NASS has many available resources for teachers.  

Here are a few things that our program can offer.

Buffalo Resource Boxes

These boxes will be located in all lower elementary YPS libraries for the ninth week of the school year.  The boxes will include all materials that support Social Studies standard 3.2.2.A.  

Included in the boxes:

• actual buffalo bones

• buffalo books

• buffalo center activities

• teacher lesson plans

• worksheets

• online slideshow "Uses for Bison"

Buffalo Boxes can be checked out at any time besides the ninth week of the school year by contacting Glenda Bowen at extension 1832.

Crafts/ Slides

War Shields and Arrowheads Craft

Provided and purchased by NASS, arrowhead crafts are available in the fall for all 3rd-grade social studies teachers. War shield crafts will be distributed in January for 4th-grade students to use when studying Plains Tribes.

There are 100s of Native American books purchased by NASS to check out at each library.  Classroom sets approved by social studies standards are also available to be checked.  Approved books may be purchased (contingent on available funds).  Contact Kim McCathen at extension 2744 for more information.

There is an extensive collection of Native music CDs and videos available at the NASS office.  

Types of videos available:

• Documentaries

• Native American dance videos

• Native American movies

• Native American storytelling

• Cultural languages

Each video listed has a grade level, summary, and approximate running time.
